Description

This vowel is rare and is pronounced as [o] in some dialects.

This vowel is marked with the sequence alifu + vao , with the zabara diacritic above the alifu in detached and initial forms. In medial and final forms, "au" is marked with vao plus the zabar diacritic over the preceding consonant.

Pronunciation Notes

This vowel is pronounced as the diphthong (gliding) vowel [ao] by some Sindhi speakers. It is somewhat similar to the diphthong in American English "loud". Other Sindhi speakers pronounce this vowel as [o], as in American English "boat".
