SCRIPT BASICS:
Partially-connecting letters

There are four letter shapes that are partially-connecting. They connect with the preceding letter on the right side if that letter is a connector, but they do not connect to any letter that follows on the left side.

Remember: the order of the letters is right-to-left, so "preceding" will always refer to the right, and "following" will always refer to the left--the opposite of English.

Shape Group 

Connects with the preceding letter:    chaddarnu 'to quit'

Does not connect to the following letter:    dabba 'scolding'

Shape Group 

Connects with the preceding letter:    shaharu 'city'

Does not connect to the following letter:    ruumaala 'handkerchief'

Shape Group 

Connects with the preceding letter:    nava 'nine'

Does not connect to the following letter:    vaddaa 'big (plural)'

Shape Group 

Connects with the preceding letter:    phaTaakaa 'fireworks'

Does not connect to the following letter:    yaaru 'friend'
