Note: the tilde symbol ~ is used in Tan~ga to separate the nasalized [an] vowel from the following syllable [ga]. The use of the tilde to mark nasalized vowels in the transcription is restricted to just those words that would otherwise be ambiguous in the transcription form. You can see more examples of such ambiguity in words that contain hamzo.
