Pronunciation Notes

This letter represents the unaspirated [k] sound. It is similar to the "k" in American English "king", or the [k] sound represented by the letter "c" in American English "cot", but it is pronounced without the puff of breathy aspiration that is typical of American English [k] sounds. In American English, this softer [k] sound is the one that occurs after "s", as in the word "scoop".
