This lesson introduces typical Sindhi expressions used to greet someone and to say good-bye. The phrases introduced in this lesson will help you with the basics of social interaction in Sindhi. The dialogue includes many expressions that are grammatically complex, but for now you can learn them as whole fixed phrases with the associated meaning and usage. Even without committing all of the phrases to memory at this time, the beginning student can still learn from this dialogue about the nature of the social interaction and the rich way language is used to communicate polite and appropriate greetings, introduction and taking leave in Sindhi. There are many other expressions of greeting, introduction and saying good-bye that you will learn from your interactions with Sindhi speakers and from observing others. You will also notice that English expressions are commonly used in the context of Sindhi conversation, so if you're struggling with a phrase, a friendly "Hi", "Hello", "Good-bye", or "Bye" can also be used and will generally be understood. |
