US Minority Students Participation Grant

The organizers of the 9th Conference on Laboratory Phonology (LabPhon 9) are pleased to announce the availability of two small grants to support the participation of US minority students in LabPhon 9. These grants are intended to cover registration and travel expenses. To qualify, applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the USA currently enrolled as students at a US institution and members of an underrepresented minority. Priority will be given to qualified candidates who

•  can demonstrate insufficient financial support from their home institution to attend LabPhon 9, and

•  have submitted an abstract which has been accepted for oral or poster presentation.

Applicants who wish to attend the conference but will not be presenting a paper should explain how attending this conference relates to their academic goals. Selection will be on the basis of economic need and potential contribution to the conference.

Applicants should send an email letter of interest to the LabPhon 9 organizers at labphon9@uiuc.edu no later than March 1.

The LabPhon 9 organizers gratefully acknowledge support for these grants from the National Science Foundation.
